West African Projects Overview Birimian Gold holds substantial interests in several highly prospective gold projects in West Africa; a gold rich region which has produced in excess of 250 million ounces of gold from large, low cost mines. Birimian Gold is currently exploring projects in Mali and Liberia, and continues to work to secure additional gold projects in West Africa. Birimian Gold's projects in Mali include the Korindji Gold Project, located adjacent to both the 13Moz Sadiola Gold Mine and the 4.5Moz Yatela Gold Deposit, and the Dankassa Gold Project in southern Mali. The company also operates the Basawa Gold Project in Liberia. Situated in southern Mali, the Dankassa Project is located on the east bank of the Niger River approximately 110km by road south of Bamako, the capital city of Mali. The Project is readily accessible by a sealed highway and gravel roads. High voltage power passes within 5km of the Project, and a well-appointed town that services a hydro-electric power scheme with a skilled workforce is located less than 40km to the south. The Dankassa Project (450km2) consists of three granted exploration permits at Kourouba, Kourouba-East, and Dankassa. Birimian Gold has the right to earn a 90% interest in all three permits by making a series of instalment payments over a period of three years. In all cases the vendors will retain a 10% free-carried interest until mining concessions are granted. Extensive gold in soil geochemical anomalism has been delineated at the Dankassa Gold Project. Very limited, shallow, RC drilling has been undertaken previously at only one prospect within this project – the Kourouba Prospect. A coherent gold in soil anomaly has been delineated here over 5,000 metres of strike. RC drilling has returned results including 10.0m at 5.75 g/t gold. Mineralisation remains open in all directions. In addition, there are numerous other geochemical targets across the Project that can be rapidly brought to drill ready stage with infill sampling. Located in western Mali. Birimian Gold has entered into a joint venture agreement with Binke Mining Corporation SARL, to earn an 85% interest in the Korindji Permit over three years. Korindji is situated in the Kenieba region of western Mali, approximately 500km by road from Bamako, within one of the premier mining districts in West Africa. The Sadiola and Yatela mines (Iamgold/Anglogold) are situated about 20km to the east and north east of Korindji. The Massawa mines are situated about 100km to the south and south-west of Korindji, in Senegal. Numerous geochemical targets can be rapidly brought to drill ready stage. The Basawa Gold Project is located in south-eastern Liberia, approximately 350 kilometres from the capital city, Monrovia. The Basawa reconnaissance licence covers an area of 1131km2. A network of roads transects a substantial proportion of the Project area, making access relatively simple. The Basawa Gold Project covers an extensive sequence of Birimian Greenstone stratigraphy – the highly prospective geological formation that hosts world-class gold deposits within West Africa. Numerous gold occurrences, both hard rock and alluvial, have been documented within the licence area. Birimian Gold is not aware of any previous modern exploration activities at any of the identified gold occurrences. Initial field reconnaissance has been undertaken. Surface sampling and mapping programs are planned to further define prospective areas for eventual drill testing. |
